Getting Personal with the Author

Author J.L. Phillips shares her personal experiences while writing Power Lies. She is very grateful for the support of loved ones throughout her writing process.

“My first late husband, David Phillips, was very supportive in my writing career. He went with me to several writing classes and was a big inspiration for me,” said J.L. Phillips. “While I was writing the book, he found a Judith Lieber purse, that had three stacked books with crystals and tassels. He said he would buy it for me when my book was published.”

J.L. Phillips got emotional as she continued her story to say that David passed away in June of 2012, before her book was published.

"When I was able to get back to writing my book and have it published in 2019, I found the purse and bought it as a gift to myself from David."
